"Taps" is a bugle call T- a signal, not a song. As such, there is no associated lyric. Many bugle calls had words associated with them as a mnemonic device but these are not lyrics.

Horace Lorenzo Trim wrote a set of words intended to accompany the music:

Day is done, gone the sun,
 From the lake, from the hills, from the sky;
 All is well, safely rest, God is nigh.

Fading light, dims the sight,
 And a star gems the sky, gleaming bright.
 From afar, drawing nigh, falls the night.

Thanks and praise, for our days,
 'Neath the sun, 'neath the stars, 'neath the sky;
 As we go, this we know, God is nigh.

Sun has set, shadows come,
 Time has fled, Scouts must go to their beds
 Always true to the promise that they made.

While the light fades from sight,
 And the stars gleaming rays softly send,
 To thy hands we our souls, Lord, commend.

Dave 'Doc' Snider,

Dad has been fighting dementia for quite a while now. I showed him all of the pictures you posted on reconbnassociation a few years ago and talked very highly of you and thought the world of you. I know he'd want you to know, he is at the end stage. I am getting his uniform ready. My brother mentioned your name and I knew I had to notify you. Thanks you for looking after him in Vietnam!

Floyd-
Thank you so much for reaching out, I did get your email but I keep forgetting to respond to be honest. My father passed away back in 2010, so it isn't recent. I have done research previously on my father and his military career and have been lucky enough to find some of the gentlemen he served with, Ed Warren being one of them. I happened to find your website and notice that the phone number listed was from over 15 years ago before my mother and father moved to Virginia. I do have a lot of photos that I'd like to share with you that others may not have and many of them I don't know who they are. I will get them together and send them to you to share and maybe someone will recognize themselves or another they served with.

My fathers service, particularly in Vietnam was a huge part of his life that he didn't talk about much and I've learned so much just chatting with Ed. Very excited to hear you all are having a reunion coming up, it's good to see that you all continue to support one another. I'll get those photos over to you soon, if you have any information on them that would be great if you could share back!

Have a great day and thank you again for reaching out!

When Nora McInerny’s dad died, she lost his stories. Like those from his time as a Recon Marine in Vietnam. So Nora decides to look up some of the men he served with, and discovers one day in 1968 that forever shaped a group of boys into the mercurial, complicated men they would become.

Hello, my 2nd cousin Jeffrey Jerauld Hein served in Delta Company in Da Nang, Vietnam. He was a Radioman. He passed away in 1970 and I'd like to find a patch od Delta Company or a photo of one as I'd like to make a plaque in commemoration of him and all my relatives who served. I've had trouble finding any information about Delta Company or it's patch online. Thanks Brody Hein brodycharleshein@gmail.com
